Rosebys completes WM system upgrade in-house

In-house IT team applies upgrade to HighJump Warehouse Advantage from 3M without consultants or vendor support

3M Supply Chain Solutions, the international operating arm of HighJump Software and a division of diversified technology company 3M, today announced that Rosebys has independently upgraded its Warehouse Management System (WMS) within the space of an afternoon. The adaptability of the HighJump WMS enabled the customer to successfully add new enhancements with minimal downtime, protracted planning or heavy commitment of specialist IT staff.

The latest upgrade to the HighJump Warehouse Advantage system from 3M Supply Chain Solutions has added many attractive benefits, including enhanced data validation and protection features that deliver greater robustness and ease of use.

"Since replacing our legacy WMS in 2004, HighJump Warehouse Advantage has delivered greater flexibility as well as performance improvements, and has integrated almost seamlessly into the business," commented Rosebys' Chris Gee. "By simply following established best practices within the IT organisation, we were able to apply the upgrade ourselves, quickly and easily, in just six hours with complete confidence of achieving success."

The unique technology architecture of the HighJump Warehouse Advantage WMS allows easy system upgrades by separating the platform from the application as well as the interfaces from the database. This isolates the effects of changes in parts of the software, and is the key to enabling customers to perform their own upgrades efficiently and at the most convenient time for the enterprise.

As further testimony of the system's flexibility, Rosebys recently adapted HighJump Warehouse Advantage to interface with DHL for parcel tracking. The in-house team made changes to pick/pack routines, wrote the interface into the DHL carrier system and processed the subsequent return file within a couple of days. Again, this was achieved without any outside help and has brought huge cost saving for Rosebys.

"Some competitive warehouse management systems require upgrades that run into hundreds of thousands of pounds and involve technology risks that make the process untenable," commented Hugh Murphy, Regional Sales & Marketing Manager, 3M Supply Chain Solutions Division. "As Rosebys has demonstrated, 3M's customers can adapt their HighJump WMS to the evolving needs of their business without compromising the integrity of their system or their ability to stay on the upgrade path."
