Centremapslive.com launches OSNI resource at iTSHOWCASE Live Belfast

Saturday, 29 March 2008

Adding to the extensive range of data already available, centremapslive.com is launching new mapping data for Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland (OSNI) at iTSHOWCASE Live event taking place on 07 May at Belfast Castle.

Offering complete coverage of Northern Ireland, centremapslive.com brings OSNI's broad data collection along with data from other sources together in one location. This gives users unprecedented ease of access when it comes to finding quickly the maps and data they want, through the simple, browser-based user interface, before they 'cut out' and download the parts they need in the required scales and format.

As well as the primary raster and vector datasets, centremapslive.com also allows users to access OSNI data as terrain models, orthophotography and historical maps. Available in a range of formats including DXF and DWG type formats for CAD and GIS users, data can also be downloaded in a unique PDF format with layering capability enabling users to easily switch between different views using standard, free Adobe PDF viewing software. This is especially beneficial to those with no access to GIS or CAD software.

For the construction and property sector, the centremapslive.com online interface allows users to freely access many of the OSNI data layers for viewing before making any commitment to purchase. This in turn allows the provision of extensive functionality including various tools to query and annotate the data with the option to create extracts which can be easily downloaded.

Launched in 2006, centremapslive.com is the definitive web-based mapping tool. As well now providing access to OSNI data, centremaplive.com aids users in managing their data licensing. Where serving multi-level and multi-user accounts the service caters for the need for companies to be aware of map holdings both within and across offices - alerting them to pending expiry. This facility also means users can place orders and see, on screen, any existing data purchases that they - or any other member of the organisation - has previously placed.
