BT Business answers hardware SOS

Sunday, 12 October 2008

BT Business has launched the first nationwide on-site computer hardware repair service for small businesses. BT Onsite Hardware Repair provides SMEs with 24/7 emergency support within four hours.

From as little as 37p a day, businesses with problems with their PCs, laptops and servers can pick and mix from three levels of service to suit their needs, Standard, Priority or Anytime. The Anytime package promises an engineer will call within four hours, 24 hours a day.

Often used by large corporates, this is the first time that Britain's small business community will be able to call on ad-hoc hardware support.

BT Lynx's team of 200 experienced engineers will provide the service. All engineers carry a range of spares, but additionally, extra parts can be automatically dispatched to the customer's site when the initial call for help is made.

Colin Mattey, director, ICT and Solutions, BT Business, said: "To underestimate the importance of critical laptops or servers to any business - big or small - would be a mistake. We aim to cut unnecessary downtime for smaller firms at a fraction of the cost usually associated with emergency call-outs.

The new BT Onsite Hardware Repair service builds on the successful launch of the IT Manager in 2006, which offers dedicated helpdesk support, remote access problem resolution and security management, and is available to all SMEs, regardless of size.
