Farne Salmon and Trout keeps supply chain flowing upstream with Inovis Solutions

Scottish fish supplier slashes EDI costs by 50%

Farne Salmon and Trout, one of Scotland's leading fish producers and suppliers, has joined the Inovisworks Value-Added-Network (VAN) and implemented the Inovis TrustedLink System i solution for a 50 percent reduction in EDI-related costs per year, in addition to the ability to transact orders with suppliers regardless of data format. Farne Salmon and Trout has also reduced time spent managing the overall EDI environment, so the IT team can focus on other strategic tasks that add value to the business.

"With our implementation of Inovisworks and TrustedLink System i, we have a modern, stable EDI platform that is easy to manage. We are able to ensure that orders from our customers arrive in a timely and immediately actionable format, which is key as we are deal with fresh goods every day," said Jacques Jean-Paul, IT Project Manager, Farne Salmon and Trout. "Perhaps most importantly, however, the Inovis pricing structure works on a flat-rate tariff instead of on the amount of data exchanged, so not only are we providing our customers with better service, but we are also better managing our EDI costs by keeping them low and predictable."

Because TrustedLink System i can seamlessly connect with back-office applications, Farne Salmon and Trout is able to download orders from its customers directly into its ERP system, reducing the risk of errors often caused during the manual transfer of data into this programme. The software is built on a simple-to-use GUI interface, meaning that Farne Salmon and Trout IT staff can provide non-technical users with access to the entire EDI environment, improving the organisation's ability to react in real-time to changes in the supply chain process.

Inovisworks is one of the largest VANs in the world and provides leading-edge web-based management and monitoring facilities for real-time visibility into the entire supply chain process so retailers and suppliers can make informed, on-demand decisions for maximum business benefit.

"Companies globally are quickly realising the benefits of replacing legacy EDI technology with leading-edge supply chain solutions, and are often surprised that they can increase functionality and at the same time lower EDI costs," said Paul Tatam, Sales and Marketing Director EMEA, Inovis.
"At Inovis, we work with businesses to drive complexity out of the supply chain, making operations more efficient and processes smarter."
