Sage ERP X3 expands its operational scope

Tuesday, 3 March 2009

Sage has signed a strategic alliance with the publisher ORTEMS and widened Sage ERP X3's operational scope to incorporate advanced constraint-based planning and scheduling solutions. This partnership is aimed at meeting the specific needs of complex and process industries.

In order to remain competitive, industry players must be able to adapt to major upheavals, the most significant of which affect logistical systems. There are many challenges that lead industrial companies to seek out solutions to improve their agility, responsiveness and flexibility: processing productions on demand or on order, having a long-term vision of basic forecasts at their fingertips, managing complex production incorporating numerous operations, improving flexibility, reducing production cycle times etc.

Industrial players will benefit from a comprehensive overview of their processes thanks to the integration of Ortems' business expertise into Sage ERP X3 enabling industrialists to:
- Reduce industrial costs thanks to a better use of their industrial capacity,
- Reduce production cycle times,
- Reduce stocks
- Centralise planning and improve how information is shared in-house and with suppliers and clients,
- React quickly in the face of market fluctuations.
The standard connector between Ortems and Sage ERP X3 solutions will be available in March 2009.

"For industrial players constantly seeking further added value; planning and scheduling represent a major strategic issue. Sage, which is already very present in the industrial sector, is joining forces with Ortems to provide a solution that is both simple and powerful, and tailored to the issues which are specific to this sector. Ortems Agile Manufacturing global solutions integrated in Sage ERP X3 will lead to an optimisation and synchronisation of production flows while bearing these constraints in mind" emphasized Benoit Grüber, ERP Market Manager, Sage Medium and Large Company Division

"Sage ERP X3 has become a leading solution on the traditional ERP solutions market; this partnership represents our joint vision of the new added value of ERPs. Innovative planning and scheduling solutions are being implemented more than ever, in a bid to meet the industrial sector's needs for dramatic cost reductions and improvements in customer service," added René Desvignes, the CEO of Ortems.
