CIO budget priorities focus on process efficiency

Monday, 1 February 2010

Jim Close, UK country manager, Software AG offers this insight

Now the tight rein on spending has eased a little, CIOs are faced with an equally challenging dilemma. Previously they had to decide what areas to cut with the least impact on the business, whereas now they need to decide where new investment will have the biggest impact. As ever, it’s about providing demonstrable ROI and ensuring the whole business will benefit in the long run.

The key IT theme for the next decade will be business process efficiency. In the next ten years, all business processes will be measured, analysed, modelled, automated, modified, improved, and aggregated.

Our advice to business leaders and CIOs is to choose wisely but not hesitate: industries and businesses that want to be at the top of their game and that haven't already started this journey had better act fast.
