Manufacturer of industrial heating systems selects Epicor

Wednesday, 28 April 2010

Epicor Software Corporation has announced that Eclipse, Inc., a worldwide manufacturer of products, systems and services for industrial heating and drying applications, has selected the Epicor 9 next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Positioned around the globe with sales, manufacturing, engineering and field service facilities worldwide, Eclipse expects Epicor to help increase efficiencies, automate business processes and deliver a new level of “ease-of-doing-business” to its customer base.

Established in 1908 and headquartered in Rockford, Illinois, Eclipse is an innovation leader in industrial heating throughout its 100-plus year history. Eclipse’s products, solutions and services help customers save fuel, reduce emissions and improve their competitiveness.

To better serve the company’s own competitive needs, Eclipse conducted an extensive selection process in its search for a fully-integrated, single-source ERP solution to help integrate its global business activities, including global financial consolidation. Eclipse’s vision for this top priority corporate initiative is to maximise its capabilities to: Sell Anywhere, Design Anywhere, Build Anywhere, Deliver Anywhere, Transact Anywhere and Collaborate Everywhere.

Epicor’s approach to ERP is perfectly aligned with Eclipse’s requirements; built on Epicor True SOATM (service-oriented architecture) and designed for growing companies in domestic and global markets, Epicor will take Eclipse’s business to the next level by breaking down business barriers and creating end-to-end visibility, increasing productivity and delivering results that will enable Eclipse to conduct business anywhere, anytime and from any device – truly the business without barriers solution they require.

Eclipse assembled a dedicated group of their best and brightest and formed the Global Business Integration Team (nicknamed “GBiz!”). Eclipse also tapped Ultra Consulting to assist in guiding them through the discovery and vendor selection process. Together they created a model that was used to evaluate all ERP vendors across six primary dimensions with more than 120 specific criteria focused on the Eclipse business needs. Epicor demonstrated strong offerings in all categories that included: software functionality, business agility, technology alignment, implementation capability, return on investment (ROI), and company strength. Most notably, Eclipse was impressed with Epicor’s global implementation strengths and “company fit,” making Epicor the front-runner in comparison to the other Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors.

“Confidence in the vendor’s ability to successfully implement their solution globally was a key factor in our selection process,” said Charlie Schloff, director of the GBiz! Team and global IT for Eclipse. “Epicor met and exceeded our expectations throughout the process. In addition, we have been extremely impressed with the overall culture of Epicor, recognizing many similarities in their ways of conducting business, their shared commitment to excellence and determined work ethic.” Eclipse president and COO, Lachlan Perks added, “We were looking for a business partnership that would share our vision in addition to providing a software solution, and Epicor has proven to be a best fit to our expectation.”

With Epicor, Eclipse will replace cumbersome manual processes and consolidate its multiple legacy ERP systems with a flexible, intuitive and scalable ERP solution to better drive efficiencies and automate business processes worldwide. “Epicor’s single-source and highly intuitive solution will help us employ consistent best practices as we work to integrate our worldwide operations,” said Schloff. Driving consistency with continuous improvement opportunities will enable long-term efficiency, reduced warranty, and a new level of business effectiveness for Eclipse that will ultimately deliver the ROI expectation.

In particular, Eclipse will utilise Epicor to help improve its customer and supplier portals, making it easier to do business with Eclipse. “Improving our internal efficiencies with Epicor will not only benefit Eclipse, but will also create advantages to our customers,” stated Perks. Eclipse is leveraging Epicor’s robust embedded customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities to improve consistency throughout its customer and product portfolios, and to provide solutions to customers with increased speed and quality.

“We are excited to provide Eclipse with a single-source ERP solution to help streamline business practices across its global operations,” said James Norwood, senior vice president, product marketing for Epicor. “Epicor’s flexibility and ease-of-use will help Eclipse broaden its global footprint and deliver better services and solutions to their customers worldwide, demonstrating a significant benefit to the company and a real ROI from business software. Through our flexible and adaptable business architecture, Epicor will provide an agile and scalable resource as Eclipse continues to grow internationally.”
