Free safety training tool launched for construction businesses
A leading training company has endorsed a free training tool launched for construction businesses by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
Experts at Pivotal Performance believe the online STEP training could lead to a significant reduction in the number of slips, trips and falls at work.
But only if construction businesses take action to put staff through the free online training.
Jane Gillham is a director of Pivotal Performance. She said: "More than a thousand people a month are seriously injured at work because of a slip, trip or fall. All businesses must work harder to bring this number down, and proper education is the first step.
"The HSE has replaced its old paper publications with interactive online video training. We train thousands of people in health and safety each year and know how difficult it can be to get the right messages across.
"So we're applauding the HSE for investing in this tool and making it available at no cost to managers."
STEP stands for Slips and Trips Elearning Package, and is available on the HSE website.
Because it is provided online, the HSE says it can be updated more quickly, ensuring the advice given is always current.
Pivotal Performance is one of the UK's leading health and safety training companies with offices in Scotland and Northamptonshire. It has a unique way of training people called PPTplus, which teaches delegates how to win commitment from others, not just compliance.
