PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Limited, within the Fujitsu Group responsible for the market leading Fujitsu document-scanners, has announced the availability of ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe, a new product package of Fujitsu’s latest one-button scanning solution, ScanSnap S1500 and Rack2-Filer’s digital file organising system. The two products complement each other seamlessly, and as a combined solution meet the demands of personal document organisation perfectly, may it be in a professional business environment or at home.

The ScanSnap S1500 is a compact-size desktop document office scanner targeted for fast and easy high-quality scanning in general office environments, small offices and for private use. The device excels through speed, ease of operation, efficient digitised data management, intelligent software functions and enhanced connectability.

Whether day-to-day business correspondence, business cards or colour brochures up to A3 in size, the ScanSnap S1500 scans documents at speeds of up to 20 pages per minute in simplex or 40 images per minute in duplex-mode (A4 portrait/300 dpi/monochrome, colour and greyscale). Its scanning process is simplified through Fujitsu´s unique one-touch, menu driven operating approach, while Quick Menu references help accelerate the operation. With its small footprint of (W) 292 mm x (D) 159 mm x (H) 158 mm and 3 kg weight, the unit can sit comfortably on any desktop, providing an optimal imaging solution for efficient day-to-day scanning at the user’s convenience.

Rack2-Filer 5.0 is an easy-to-use scanning and file management solution specially designed for home and small offices. It allows users to quickly sort, organise and file paper documents digitally and manage all the documents in an intuitive, virtual library with the click of a button. It enables users to convert scanned documents as well as digitally borne documents into PDF-files and organise them into graphical electronic binders and virtual cabinets.

Recently awarded the ‘Editor’s Choice’ award by Document Manager magazine, Rack2-Filer is a unique approach to personal file management solutions which allows users to compose virtual binders filled with digital paper and organise these in graphically animated storage racks or cabinets just like with real paper. Rack2-Filer organises digitally born documents along with paper documents in one unified virtual space. Any personal organising structure preferred and appreciated from physical paper can now be provided digitally through Rack2-Filer.

The ScanSnap S1500 is the first document scanner of its class to provide ultrasonic detection capabilities to the professional office desktop. The device features a 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for consecutive batch scanning. Special ScanSnap carrier sheets enable users to digitise A3 formats and varying size documents such as press clipping copies and photographs. Such paper documents can be either scanned successively or in mixed document batches.

Rack2-Filer creates a life-like experience with digital content through the use of virtual cabinets and e-binders. While flipping through pages, users can add highlights, divider sheets and ‘sticky notes’ to enhance the organisational value of their virtual library. With Rack2-Filer's built-in OCR engine, content can be made searchable by word, phrase or number. Even information in ‘sticky notes’ and ‘binder titles’ can be retrieved.

Rack2-Filer enables users to store digitally born and scanned data in a very efficient way, providing several powerful tools and time-saving features to keep content highly accessible, accurately organised, and working hard for the individual user. Compared to the hassle-free search and retrieval capabilities of the software, paper is left redundant.

The ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe package is designed for Windows operating systems including Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windos 7 and generates PDF files as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. The package supports seven European languages, and offers a range of new functionalities to users including an updated icon design, the ability to display search results in a binder, the possibility to rearrange the order of contents, ‘send as email’ function, and an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) function. ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe also features the ScanSnap Organizer 4.0 for simple PDF management and file searches as well as CardMinder 4.0 for easy business card scanning and efficient business card information organisation.
