JD Sports introduce secure stock tracking with TranSend DMS System
JD Sports, a leading sports fashion retailer, has selected the TranSend Delivery Management System (DMS) from VSc Solutions Ltd to provide secure stock tracking for deliveries and returns between its distribution centres and 500 stores nationwide.
The new system brings two key benefits to the JD Sports distribution operation:
1. Accurate, real-time information on stock location and movement allows them to reallocate stock and maximise sales across all stores as well as reduce returns loss.
2. Vehicle tracking and route monitoring against plan helps to optimise use of drivers and vehicles as well as respond more quickly to delivery plan changes.
The TranSend DMS will be deployed on 70 Motorola MC65 handheld devices for drivers, supplied through OpalTec International. The system will integrate with JD Sports’ back office system for route planning information, SKU details and to update delivery information.
Tim Edwards, JD Sports’ Loss Control Director believes that TranSend offers bottom-line benefits to their retail distribution operation: “We have clear ideas of how this technology can bring efficiencies and cost savings to our business, including faster consolidation of stock for improved movement around the country and more secure stock tracking to reduce losses. TranSend provides us with valuable, real-time information and visibility of our delivery operation using our own performance measures and working practices.”
