Leading recycling & waste company selects Maxima for ERP Managed Service agreement
Maxima, the leading IT business systems and managed services company, has secured a three-year Managed Service contract with DS Smith Recycling, the recycling and waste management arm of DS Smith Plc, to support the operation of its chosen specialist Microsoft Dynamics NAV-based ERP solution for the recycling and waste management sector.
As the largest UK fibre recycler and a market-leading integrated waste management company, DS Smith Recycling collects around 1.9 million tonnes of material for recycling annually. In addition to this, DS Smith Recycling recovers around 250,000 tonnes of waste, otherwise landfill-bound, to alternative technologies.
Under the agreement, Maxima's Unified Infrastructure operation will supply and manage the core IT infrastructure needed to support DS Smith Recycling's advanced Enwis ERP software solution developed by Qurius, and based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The IT infrastructure will be based on IBM's latest BladeCenter HX5 scalable high-performance blade servers and Storwize V7000 storage virtualisation platform, and implemented at DS Smith Recycling's Castlegate HQ site in Caerphilly, Wales. The IT platform will link via a high-speed data circuit to a Maxima Datacentre to provide a comprehensive disaster recovery support service.
"Our Enwis integrated ERP solution supports all our key processes, and is an essential platform for driving our business forward," commented Peter McGuiness, Managing Director of DS Smith Recycling. "Engaging with Maxima provides us with a resilient, agile and fully virtualised IBM-based IT infrastructure that can grow alongside our business, leaving us free to focus on our core activities of delivering innovative recycling services and high end customer care to our customers."
"We're delighted to be working with DS Smith Recycling on this important project, and look forward to implementing an integrated Managed Service approach that draws together key elements of the Maxima business including infrastructure deployment, virtualisation, Microsoft applications management, disaster recovery, high-speed connectivity and best practice managed monitoring and support," added Mike Henson, Managing Director of Maxima's Unified Infrastructure division. "The combination of Maxima's in-depth managed service capabilities, backed by the technology resources of key partners such as IBM, Citrix and Microsoft, means we're able to provide all the components of DS Smith Recycling's IT infrastructure requirements, and optimise its performance to ensure that IT is always positioned to support the company's growth."
