Pinnula reinforces growth management
Penistone Reinforcements was formed in 1959 by brothers Peter and Philip Ward and traded as “Ward Brothers”. Initially the company was involved in straightening wire rod for the precast concrete industry, with five or six customers. Throughout the rest of the millennium the company grew in size and diversity, installing machines and equipment to draw, cut and manipulate wire. Products became as diverse as mesh panels, oven shelves, bespoke display stands, bundling wire and more recently baling wire.
Barbara Lomas, Penistone Reinforcement’s financial director, explains that, following a period of rapid growth, the firm realised it needed an integrated software package to control and report on all aspects of the business, from process and stock levels, to accounts, providing the information it needs.
“After assessing a number of products, the knowledge and experience that Pinnula demonstrated in the manufacturing sector set them apart from the competition,” says Barbara Lomas of Penistone Reinforcements. “We had some very specific requirements, which Pinnula fully addressed at the demonstration stage, showing a willingness and ability to create a system configuration to meet our needs.”
The installation of Uniplan was the first system of its kind at Penistone Reinforcements and represented a significant investment and a huge leap forward in the way the business is run. Pinnula knew that Uniplan would make everyone’s life easier, providing current, accurate data that employees in all departments can utilise to further improve the operation and increase output.
To enhance and speed up the delivery of strategic information DI (Dimensional Insight) Diver was implemented. DI Diver is a business intelligence tool that allows the users to view their data in multiple ways or dimensions delivering reports and analysis. Pinnula is one of the main distributers of this product in the UK.
