Winds of change for renewables company system
Global renewable energy company Wind Prospect is implementing a new Project Information Management system which will become utilised in 24 offices across 10 countries worldwide.
Workspace is now being used by the company's on-site generation business and by central functions such as marketing and legal as part of a phased global introduction.
Wind Prospect is the most successful wind farm developer in the UK and also provides advisory and consultancy services to clients across the entire wind farm life cycle – from site selection to energisation and operation.
The company also recently launched a corporate investment bond called 'Rebonds' onto the UK market and has seen Workspace come into its own as a result.
Wind Prospect Group CEO, Euan Cameron explains: "We are in the middle of the issue of ReBonds, which allows UK residents to invest in a UK renewable energy company. Importantly Workspace has given us the immediate ability to store documents such that others within our UK offices can access them from multiple locations. We are also able to set up security protocols that mean the right people have the right access levels."
"Workspace is ideal for ReBonds as it has allowed us to create workflows, assign tasks to members of the ReBonds team and to target potential investors through the system."
The timing of Union Square's telephone call to Wind Prospect could not have been better. Wind Prospect had been recently looking to develop a system in-house, but with already providing support to new offices in Poland, Turkey and South Africa, the IT team was already stretched.
"Workspace was just what we needed and would take a fraction of the time to implement. The other fundamental tick in the box was that Workspace is compatible with Microsoft. All our global IT infrastructure is Microsoft based and good integration is essential for both end-users and our IT team" says Mr Cameron.
Wind Prospect looks forward to realising the benefits of Workspace namely; improved internal communications, better organisation and an increase in sales opportunities. With top down support and clear vision for the future, these prospects look set to become reality.
