Tech savvy minicab firms defy the downturn and grow their business
Tech savvy London minicab firms are defying the recession and growing their businesses - some for the first time in years - thanks to a sophisticated and unique software platform developed by Kabbee, London’s instant minicab price comparison and booking service.
Since its launch in June of this year, thousands of minicab bookings have been made using the new platform, with customers most often booking a cab company they haven’t travelled with before.
The platform enables minicab companies to bid for work both within and outside their usual locations, thereby increasing their journeys and saving them time by automatically offering quotes. This reduces the time controllers spend on the phone, allowing them to focus on the delicate operation of getting passengers picked up on time. It also means the drivers reduce ‘dead time’ when they return back to their base areas empty.
Additional efficiencies are gained as customers use a smartphone app or Kabbee’s website to book a Kabbee minicab, removing any language barriers or confusion about the pick-up or drop-off location. This ensures customers get an instant choice of quotes through no extra effort from the fleets.
John McGrath of minicab firm Airport Direct has been in the minicab business for more than 30 years: “I can’t overstate just how phenomenal and sophisticated the Kabbee platform is. I have been running cab firms for more than 30 years and nothing comes close to the Kabbee platform for ease of use and efficiency. It is fully automated and enables Airport Direct to save time on pick-ups.
“I have also been able to grow the business. Customers who wouldn’t have known about Airport Direct can get a quote by using the Kabbee app. It means we have access to more jobs and less dead time. What Kabbee has brought to the industry is truly unbelievable. It is a brilliant concept,” he continued.
“Kabbee is delivering more passengers to fleets, reducing the average waiting time for passengers and increasing earnings for drivers. We work closely with fleets and drivers to deliver a top quality service that will bolster customer confidence in the sector,” said Philip Makinson, Kabbee Development Director.
“Kabbee’s vision is now producing real results. In just four months we have revolutionised the minicab booking experience with a convenient, trustworthy service that offers customers value for money. We launched in London first due to the hugely fragmented market here and we’ll be rolling out to cities nationwide in 2012. Our platform has already created a more joined-up minicab system in the capital, benefiting customers, fleets and drivers.”
Kabbee is a free app and website (www.kabbee.com) that allows users to compare fares before booking a minicab. Users input journey details and choose fares based on prices, times and user ratings. Users then select to pay by cash, card or pre-paid account. Booking is quick, especially when compared to contacting multiple fleets to get a good price.
