Daro Design to speed concepts to market with Autodesk software solutions
Daro Design, a UK-based start-up, which is both a design consultancy and a manufacturer of products for consumer and industrial markets, has purchased Autodesk Product Design Suite from Autodesk, Inc. The decision was one of the first made by the new company following its launch during the Summer.
Daro Design plans to use the suite as a training tool to take consultancy clients through the complete design lifecycle from concept sketching to manufacture. It also plans to use the suite to bring its own portfolio of solutions to market and is already using some of the software to develop its first product: an innovative tool storage system for contractors.
Daro Design selected Autodesk Product Design Suite because its designers were familiar with several solutions incorporated in the suite, having used both Autodesk Showcase and Autodesk Alias Design at University. The company was also impressed with the ease of integration between the tools in the suite and its potential to drive productivity and business efficiency.
“ As a new start-up, cost of ownership and availability of IT resource are key issues for us, so we were particularly impressed with how easy and cost-effective it is to deploy, maintain and manage the Product Design Suite,” says Robert Smith, managing director, Daro Design. “The tight integration between the different products in the suite will give us the flexibility to respond quickly to shifting client requirements from concept phase to manufacture, while enabling us to develop our own innovative designs efficiently and cost-effectively. In summary, it will allow us to keep our product design costs to a minimum and drive competitive edge.”
In the future, the use of Autodesk Showcase will enable Daro Design to create high-quality visualisations, featuring realistic images and animations, to drive successful consulting engagements, enhance marketing programmes and drive sales.
“Showcase will help us sell our products, concepts and ideas to customers and prospects,” adds Smith. “We can also use the tool to cost-effectively deliver high-quality component parts such as piping and cabling for electrical projects.”
Daro Design plans to use the add-on capabilities of Autodesk Inventor – another key component of the suite - to select design materials, check carbon footprints and decide on fuels needed for production processes. The company sees the ability of Autodesk Alias Design to create high-quality surfaces as its key benefit.
Daro Design is currently receiving training on the Product Design Suite from Autodesk reseller, Adris Computing Concepts.
In the future, Daro Design aims to build on the productivity and efficiency benefits it expects the Product Design Suite to deliver by expanding its business through recruiting more staff with specialist expertise, in turn enabling it to offer a broader range of consulting services and new products.
