Masternaut has launched a rugged vehicle data terminal (VDT) for easy in-vehicle data messaging, job despatch and event monitoring such as driver hours. Linked to Masternaut telematics and data communications, the device provides one touch button operation with easily programmable keys to make it fast and very simple to use.
Running as part of the Masternaut web service, jobs can be despatched to the VDT with drivers sending acceptances and job completions by simple press-button commands. Key events such as driver login, start and end of day, refuelling and driver hours can be recorded, linked to satellite tracking and where required tachographs and vehicle sensors. All information is immediately relayed for display on the web with comprehensive e-mail reports to show activities.
VDT provides a rugged and secure alternative to Masternaut's PDA solution. The anti-theft VDT is fixed on a vehicle dashboard with wired power direct from the Masternaut mobile communications unit. This provides a more robust and cost effective solution fitted as an integral part of the dashboard.
Another key feature of the VDT is the ease with which it can be configured. Up to 18 options can be pre-set and an additional numeric keypad aids data entry. A touch-sensitive LCD screen adds to ease of use and allows extra data entry options. Masternaut can easily customised functions to suit different industries and meet company-specific requirements.
