| | New software from Graphisoft brings dramatic productivity benefits to project teams
Graphisoft UK announces the launch of Graphisoft Change Manager - an easy to use workflow application for construction companies, sub contractors, architects and engineers.
It allows project teams to dramatically improve productivity when reviewing construction document sets so changes, that materially impact on time and cost, can be better identified and managed. Offering significant time savings, the software also minimises the risk of costly errors. In addition, its ability to log and track data provides a recorded history of changes made - a useful tool in the event of litigation.
"Change management is a major issue facing today's project teams," explains Clay Freeman, Vice President of Graphisoft Construction Solutions. "Project teams generate frequent revisions to sets of construction documents often containing hundreds or even thousands of drawing files. Identifying and responding to changes is a time consuming process, and missing a single change can have disastrous repercussions."
Change Manager was originally conceived by the Graphisoft Virtual Construction services team. As a services organisation they faced the constant challenge of having to identify changes in an accurate and timely manner through each phase of large and complex projects - a requirement no different from that of architects, consultants and construction companies throughout the world.
Freeman continues: "Identifying changes would normally take days on a large drawing set. With Change Manager this is now reduced to a matter of minutes, enabling architects, consultants, engineers and construction companies to react faster than ever before."
Files can be reviewed on a document-by-document basis, supporting any new, deleted and changed entries with colour-coded identification and a facility to overlay old documents with new. Changed documents can then be assigned to a project team member, who can then check, reassign, ignore or skip it.
Ben Wallbank, Project Director at John Robertson Architects, comments: "Change Manager has the potential to revolutionise the way we work. As well as saving time, it streamlines communication within the project team allowing changes to be easily monitored and compared on a regular basis. The liability implications of missing a change can be very serious and therefore senior management often has to carry out document checking. By relieving them of this time consuming task, they can channel their efforts into, for example, managing the impact of these changes."
Change Manager requires no training and retails at £695. |
