Business is booming for Import Services

South coast-based Import Services is on the expansion trail after winning four new contracts in the last four months

Building on its firm foundations as a logistics expert in the toy and gift industry, Import Services recently secured business from the UK's leading producer of TV themed board games, Britannia Games, as well as Talking Tables, makers of themed party tableware.

It has also successfully expanded into new markets after being awarded the full logistics operation for Metahouse's luxury kitchen and bathroom products and also managing the warehousing and distribution for Mostyns, which provides readymade curtains and soft furnishing fabrics.

"We are very pleased to be awarded this new business," said Mike Thomas, Import Services client services director.

"Import Services has been established more than 20 years and yet we are constantly evolving to enhance our service and delight our existing clients and also to attract prospective business.

"Last year we undertook some key business development steps, re-branding and launching a new interactive website as part of a concerted marketing effort.  This has helped raise our profile within the toy and gift industry, as well as widened our appeal in the contract logistics market.''

He said the most recent new business win was from Britannia Games, who chose Import Services following a number of recommendations from major toy firms and large retailers including John Lewis.

"Import Services deliver 98.8 per cent of our orders on time - something we know our clients and their customers recognise and a fact we are proud of," continued Mike.

"We have a passionate team, great facilities and web enabled systems to assist us in working to tight deadlines; this is why we are selected to support new businesses."

The four new contracts boost Import Services' already impressive portfolio of clients, including major players in toys and gifts: Flair, Toymaster, Playmobil, Carte Blanche and Hallmark.

Import Services offers its clients a seamless door to door logistics service.  It provides accounting services, purchase order tracking, storage, order processing, high volume pick and pack, labelling and distribution to UK retailers, including Argos, Boots, John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Woolworths, Clinton Cards, Birthdays, Toys R Us, W H Smith, Amazon, Tesco, ASDA, Hamleys plus a number of large independent retailers.

Import Services, has three warehouses in and around Southampton and moves all products through the city's Port.
