Fruit importer Eurodix has been provided with a comprehensive supply-chain visibility solution
SSI, a Chelford Group company and provider of ERP and supply chain management solutions for regulated industries including food, has announced a major order for its TROPOS ERP solution from Eurodix, one of the UK's largest importers of citrus and other popular fruits. Eurodix can now achieve full visibility across its supply chain - from tracking consignments of fruit arriving from overseas growers, to delivery and packing at the company's Peterborough site - by replacing cumbersome spreadsheet reports with a fully integrated ERP system. TROPOS will enable staff to precisely monitor every area of the supply-chain in real-time, supporting faster and easier decision making processes as the company delivers fresh fruit daily to the UK's leading supermarkets.
Eurodix will be able to instantly view key product information through a central information repository as soon as fruit shipments arrive in the country, to be stored, monitored and packed at the company's 60,000sq ft complex. The company recently invested in a state-of-the art cold storage facility, and the implementation of TROPOS ensures Eurodix maintains its high standards of product and service quality.
"Eurodix imports over six million boxes of fresh fruit every year, so it is essential that each employee has access to a quick, easy-to-use interface to monitor every process within the operation," commented Stuart Wyllie, Finance Controller at Eurodix. "Every day, goods arrive from all over the world, and stock is dispatched to destinations throughout the UK, so it is critical that we have complete visibility of stock information - quantities, prices and storage requirements. By streamlining internal operational and decision making processes, TROPOS will ensure Eurodix maintains the exceptional quality of product and service delivery that our customers have come to depend on."
"We had been considering an ERP solution for a number of years as our old legacy tools were becoming increasingly inadequate for what we wanted to do," added John Hawdon, Eurodix Managing Director. "Each department was running its own system, mostly through spreadsheets. The limitations of running disparate reporting methods were becoming obvious and, as a result, information could not be shared effectively throughout the company. In the end, we decided that SSI's solution offered the best flexibility and capabilities."
"Visibility is an absolute necessity for a company like Eurodix, where stock turnover is quick, and goods have specific storage requirements," commented Neville Merritt, Group Marketing Director, Chelford Group. "TROPOS will ensure that the staff at Eurodix can quickly and precisely extract the information they require, without having to sift through spreadsheets. This ensures that business processes are smoother and easier, and improves decision making throughout the supply chain."
The order further extends SSI's well-established customer base within the food industry, which includes well-known names such as Wrights Pies, George Adams and Fox's Confectionery.
