Survey results show that implementation of Enterprise Content Management systems has almost doubled since 2005
AIIM found a strong correlation between a company's ability to handle electronic information well and perception of that company's level of business success. The 16% of respondents who rate their organisation 'very good' or 'excellent' in managing, controlling and using electronic information are twice as likely to consider their organisation more effective than the industry average in terms of overall profitability and effectiveness.
The benefits of electronic information handling are clearly understood. AIIM found that 46% of organisations plan to spend 'more' or 'much more' on document and records management technologies in 2007 compared to the last survey, with only 13% planning to spend less. When asked to identify the most challenging aspect of document and records management in their organisation, 28% cited justifying the investment and gaining board commitment, whilst 27% considered change management to be the tougher aspect.
