Jost Hellmann flies in to Glasgow to officially open new facilities
Leading global logistics service provider, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has further expanded its capabilities in Scotland, opening new premises at Prestwick Airport in Glasgow. The new, larger offices replace Hellmann's previous presence at Prestwick, and the expanded facilities were officially opened by global director, Jost Helmann on July 4.
The new office is responsible for all of Hellmann's incoming and outgoing airfreight in Scotland, and the new larger premises will provide added office space and warehouse facilities to accommodate the company's continued growth in the sector.
Andy Lyall, Hellmann's general manager for Scotland commented: "Hellmann continues to grow throughout the UK, and our growth in Scotland is a demonstration of how we are expanding across the board. We have increased our presence at Prestwick and opened new facilities in order to accommodate recent and future growth in terms of volumes, personnel and service offering."
With no warehouse facilities previously available to Hellmann at Prestwick, the new offices have access to over 30,000 sq ft of secure storage, fully equipped with a fleet of forklift vehicles and the latest warehousing technology. Sales turnover at Prestwick is expected to grow by 11 percent year on year in 2007, and the company hopes to maintain this momentum in 2008 and beyond.
Martin Meyer, managing director at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK commented:
"Prestwick provides us with a wealth of opportunities in a number of market sectors; from fashion logistics to perishable logistics. We are confident that from these new premises we will be able to build on our success in Scotland."
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics currently employs over 15,000 people worldwide, and operates from 341 cities across 141 countries. The company's UK operation boasts ten individual offices, including corporate headquarters in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
