Garbutt Transport is experiencing significant demand for its express delivery services to Europe
As a member of Palletways, Europe’s distribution network for the express distribution of small consignments of palletised freight, the company now provides delivery services for customers in Wiltshire to the Benelux countries, France, Germany, Scandinavia and Switzerland.
Many local customers are taking advantage of the new expanded service, and Garbutt Transport thinks demand for the service will continue to increase.
Mike Garbutt, Principal of Garbutt Transport, said: “We have seen a phenomenal rate of growth in our European market, as our customers in Wiltshire are increasingly doing business with mainland Europe. In the past customers would have had to deal directly with a distribution company in the country to which they were distributing the goods. Now they just place an order with us, which we fulfil via the Palletways network, making the whole distribution a lot easier and quicker.
“For example, we have for a number of years provided a UK service for one of our long-standing customers. However we were only dealing with half of their business – the other half of their deliveries are into Europe. Therefore, as soon as we could offer the European service, our business with this company has doubled.”
Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest-growing pallet freight network, now serves a vast area of mainland Europe including: the Benelux countries, Denmark, France, Germany and Switzerland. Soon Garbutt Transport will also be able to offer deliveries for customers in Wiltshire to Italy and Spain via the Palletways network.
Goods from Wiltshire are collected by Garbutt Transport and taken to the Palletways hub in Lichfield. From there they are transported direct to hubs in either Nijmegen, the Netherlands, or Troyes, France, from where they are collected and delivered to their final destination.
By accessing the Palletways website and entering a unique login name, customers are able to view online the status of any consignment they have put through the network. They are able to view full POD details and scanned images of the signed delivery paperwork the morning after delivery.
