| | Collis Engineering signals the way to enhanced accuracy
Collis Engineering, a specialist in mechanical and structuralapplications for railway signalling and other projects has become the latest manufacturer to migrate to the 3D manufacturing design software, Autodesk Inventor. The firm, based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, has recently won a high profile contract with Rail Track, and has a broad customer base including many blue chip clients.
Collis is currently working with Autodesk reseller and training provider Trionics to implement the software with the goal of improving drawing quality, increasing productivity and so sharpening its competitive edge. Key to the package is in-depth training from Trionics which will ensure Collis maximises its investment in Inventor.
Richard Whitehead, Collis group assurance manager explains that previously, when working under pressure, there was always a risk that changes to a drawing were not carried through the entire project. “It was easy to update a general arrangements drawing, but get distracted and forget to revise another drawing along with it – just human error. Using Inventor will be our insurance against this happening and all changes are automatically carried through to every associated drawing and document.”
He says that the new software will also help in communicating designsto other team-members and streamline the process of design reviews.“Using Inventor we will be able to get closer to the best design option faster, which in turn will enable us to accelerate our routes to market and stay ahead of the competition.
“We are continually striving to improve our products and services – and to do this we believe in investing in the best possible tools for the job. In this case the best was Inventor, with training from Trionics.” |
