Palletways, headquartered at Fradley Distribution Park, has taken a minority interest in Lichfield-based X2, a 4PL specialising in flexible distribution and warehousing solutions.
Palletways decision to invest in X2 forms part of the company’s strategy to grow the business by continually enhancing the breadth and value of service provision to its members and customers.
X2, whose clients to date include Corporate Express, DHL and TDG, can provide the entire distribution solution from design and consultancy, implementation of a new solution and transport management to warehousing, cross docking and consolidation services.
Through the Palletways network and other strategic partners, X2 can provide its customers with access to 2,000 vehicles, and 3m square feet of warehousing space, which is a greater resource than some of the larger third party logistics providers.
Palletways and its members will benefit from this strategic partnership by generating increased business opportunities, which will include full load, part load, single pallet and parcel distribution, along with warehousing
Says Craig Hibbert, managing director of Palletways UK Member Network, who will also have a seat on the X2 board: “As the main strategic partner of X2, our network will be able to offer an enhanced range of transport services to customers across the UK. In addition, those members in our network, who require additional fleet capacity, will be able to benefit by providing customers with a dedicated stand trailer and trailer collection resource through X2.
“Our central stockholding facility, Stargate Logistics, which is located next to our central UK hub facility at Lichfield, will also benefit from the link up as it will be able to handle any fast response storage-to-delivery requirements as part of X2’s logistics service package to support customers’ special product promotions or seasonal peaks in demand.
“Above all Palletways believes that there is significant scope for new business development from the partnership with X2.”
