Tayside Pharmaceuticals has installed the latest SYSPRO 6.0 manufacturing software system from Salford-Quays company, K3, following the rapid growth in sales of its special medicines.
Scottish-based Tayside, which supplies tablets, ointments, injections, intravenous feed bags and medicine packs carried by ambulance paramedic teams, is increasingly supplying English Hospitals, including Manchester's Royal Infirmary.
The cornerstone of its success has been an investment in modern manufacturing facilities at the company's Dundee factory and an ERP system that has an enhanced LOT Traceability module to track and trace, with 100% certainty, over 600 different raw materials entering the factory, and customers using over 1000 patient-specific medicines.
K3's new system will track expiry dates of raw materials and manufactured medicines held by hospitals and paramedic teams. It will also provide instant access to reporting information and give the company more control over the firm's two separately controlled sterile and non-sterile manufacturing units. Non-sterile production covers the repackaging of tablets and liquids from larger bottles into small containers for ease-of-use within hospital wards.
Jon Cook, Production Manager for Tayside Pharmaceuticals commented: "The IT upgrade means we will better manage and control rapid changes to customer requirements and the inconsistent ordering of certain products."
With over 72 employees at its Manchester head office and 3 other facilities throughout the UK, K3 offers solutions in enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management, advanced planning and scheduling, warehouse management, human resources and e-business.
