Multibuild are one of the North West's leading contractors with a current turnover of £40m per annum in a number of different markets involving new construction, refurbishment, interior fit-out and development. Over the last 20 years, they have become a very successful contractor achieved largely through a culture of continual innovation and a willingness to introduce new working practices and technology.
The company's announcement to implement Union Square's Workspace Portal is just the latest step. Mike Peden, Managing Director, explains some of the background: "We need to be very responsive to a rapidly changing market and client conditions and that means that our people need to know exactly where we are with a particular enquiry, client or project. This has led us to search for a tool that will provide all this information in a speedy and efficient manner.
Like most contractors, valuable information is locked away either on peoples' PCs or in their heads. It sounds grand but its really quite simple: we want a system that everyone can use, that can provide all the information that our people need to do their jobs and can be accessed from anywhere! We have seen some very practical demonstrations of how other contractors have used the Workspace technology to great effect and we firmly believe that significant benefits will accrue quickly from its use."
Will Yandell, Commercial Director at Union Square said: "We are extremely happy to have been selected by Multibuild. They are a fast growing business who will provide opportunities for us both. The fact that Mike Peden has taken such an interest in the project shows the strategic significance of the investment. They are the fourth organization this month to have committed to Workspace which reflects the growing acceptance of Enterprise Portal technology as a must-have tool in the sector."
