The Clegg Group, an £80m turnover group of construction and engineering companies, have become the latest organization to adopt the Workspace Enterprise Portal.
Initially the company will be using the browser-based system as a reporting portal to deliver key financial information in real time to the desktops of project managers and quantity surveyors.
David Short, Group Managing Director, explains why they have turned to leading edge technology to unlock the knowledge held inside their accounting system: "As a Group, Clegg's have grown significantly in the last 5 years, turnover has more than doubled and like all organizations in our sector we continually experience increased pressure to deliver more, in a shorter timeframe to tighter budgets.
We have excellent systems in place for managing costs, but with our desire to improve our systems we see real benefit to make that information available to key individuals, when they need it in a form that they can easily understand and digest. We have chosen Workspace from Union Square because we were able to validate its usability with other organizations using DEMA. We found that they were not only using the system for financial reporting but also for a range of other important activities which we want to develop in the future such as contact, document and project management."
Will Yandell, Commercial Director at Union Square added: "We have been discussing the potential use of portal technology with Clegg's for some time now. Like most organizations in the construction sector, we can help them in their efforts to create a more collaborative environment. Initially our involvement is limited to financial reporting but we are very excited about the prospects of our technology being adopted more widely across the Group."
