Bell Lighting R-AMPs up supply chain with Opera 3 and Applied Business Computers

Pegasus Software has announced that Bell Lighting, a leading manufacturer and supplier of light sources and fixtures to the electrical wholesale industry, has extended its Opera 3 deployment with a new warehouse system.  Working with Applied Business Computers, Bell will use the barcoding solution to enhance picking and packing across its warehouse to increase efficiencies and boost fulfilment.

In the wake of rapid business growth – from a turnover of £8 million in 2011 to £20 million this year, the lighting manufacturer needed to build upon the business improvements it had achieved following its investment in Opera 3 in 2014.  As well as improved accuracy, efficiencies and multi-channel customer service capabilities, Bell is now able to boost service further through consolidating its next day delivery commitment, whereby orders placed before 4pm are guaranteed to arrive on the next working day.

Integrated fully with Opera 3, the new barcoding system automates the entire picking process, from Purchase Order creation through to labelling and dispatch.  The system shows precisely what is being picked, at what time and by whom, assigning barcodes to both units and quantities to facilitate seamless warehousing operations.  This visibility means that inventory levels have already improved, and crucially, missed deliveries have reduced to zero.

“Given that Bell Lighting has 1200 different SKUs, and our warehouse processes approximately 300 Purchase Orders every day, achieving a missed delivery rate of zero is no mean feat, comments Ralph Grote, Managing Director, Bell Lighting.  “Opera 3 has equipped us with a robust, scalable platform from which to pursue the rapid growth we have achieved over the last few years, and with our new warehousing capabilities, we are confident that we can continue on this path, delighting our customers through delivering the very best service.”
