Biocomposites selects Epicor ERP to drive growth

Azzure IT helps CN creativeEpicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organisations, has announced that Biocomposites, a world leader in calcium compound devices used to regenerate and repair bone and soft tissue, has chosen the Epicor ERP version 10 next-generation enterprise resource planning solution.  The solution will be used to enhance visibility across Biocomposites’ business processes from sales to shipping, quality control and support its continued growth.

For over 25 years, Biocomposites has been designing and manufacturing medical devices to transform outcomes in musculoskeletal infections, trauma, spine and sports injuries. In recent years the company has been achieving substantial year on year growth, across international markets and is now looking to scale its infrastructure to support the next phase of their development.

“Product innovation and customer service are at the heart of our growth strategy” said Stephen Bratt, CEO at Biocomposites.  “As we continue to grow we need systems and processes that can grow with us and help differentiate our products.”

Biocomposites could also see opportunities to improve the efficiency and visibility of its internal processes by bringing together a number of disparate systems in a single integrated companywide ERP solution; supporting sales order administration, inventory, purchasing, production, operations management, finance and dispatch.

Stephen continued: “Bringing our systems together in this way will improve the consistency of our data, remove duplication and give us total visibility of our operations. It will also support our quality control processes, which are critical to meeting the regulatory requirements in our key markets.”

Epicor was selected due to its rich out of the box functionality, where other solutions would have required customisation to meet Biocomposites’ complex vertical specific needs. The architectural structure of Epicor ERP, separating business logic, underlying data, and application code, was also highlighted as a positive, because it would allow the company to implement upgrades with a minimum of risk to its operations.

“In the medical industry, like so many others, strict governance and legislation plays an important role in ensuring the safety and traceability of products,” added Steve Winder, regional vice president for Epicor in the UK and Ireland. “Epicor ERP supports the legislative and process requirements in a number of vertical industries.  For over thirty years, we have been refining Epicor ERP to meet best practice requirements in a wide range of vertical markets.  Add to this the rich configuration options that can be employed to meet a businesses’ individual needs without changing the underlying code, and you have one of the most flexible solutions available. Epicor ERP is designed to get your business up, running and reaping the rewards of the investment as quickly as possible.”
