The deal, for an undisclosed sum, has taken immediate effect and enables Columbus to offer MW data’s specialised solutions to businesses in the UK, further strengthening its range of solutions to production companies in serial and contract manufacturing, mechanical engineering and food and drink.
CEO of Columbus, Thomas Honoré, commented: “The acquisition of MW data is consistent with our strategy to expand in the manufacturing industry. It adds to our depth of specialised expertise and will enable us to offer even more unique solutions to companies in the production, logistics and food industries. It’s a perfect match, which will help our customers optimise and develop their business on a very high specialised level.”
MW data was founded in 1996 and has a number of established international customers. Like Columbus, the company is well known and widely respected for its expertise in the global process and discrete manufacturing sectors. The company has its own Engineer-To-Order solution, which focuses on integration of the project and production modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX, handling all functions from quotations, design activities and presentation to shipment, installation and subsequent service.
Columbus has been servicing the manufacturing industry for the last 25 years, providing effective ERP solutions for businesses throughout the sector. One of Microsoft’s coveted Microsoft Dynamics AX manufacturing partners, and a member of The Manufacturer’s Servitization Thought-Leader Network (MSTLN), this recent acquisition is further evidence of Columbus’ track record and experience in the manufacturing and food industries.
Mogens Wűrgler, Managing Director and CEO of MW data, who will continue in the company, added: “With Columbus’ global business model and size, I am convinced that MW data will be stronger in servicing our many international customers. Columbus’ extensive development resources will ensure continued innovation and support of our solutions. The expanded resources will be of great benefit to both existing and new customers.”
