Simeio provides biometric access control system at V and A Museum

avon launchesSimeio is to provide biometric access control for the Victoria and Albert Museum’s new gallery project. Construction workers will verify their credentials and activity through Simeio’s biometric access points onsite.

Forming part of the museum’s major overhaul programme, development works will provide a large column-free underground exhibition gallery. An open courtyard and improved entrance into the Museum will also be created at street level set within the historic facades of the V&A’s Grade 1 listed building.

The biometric access control system will manage the time and attendance of workers and integrate their CSCS control and reporting.

The fingerprint technology will also measure the amount of carbon used by workers and suppliers – a government requirement for projects of this size.

Simeio will provide the data recorded to subcontractor MadiganGill, a construction solutions company specialising in labour and management provision and construction logistics. The main contractor is Wates Construction who was awarded the £43m contract earlier this year.

Ollie McGovern, Managing Director of Simeio says: “It’s amazing to be working on a project with such historic significance and gravitas. We look forward to contributing to the efficient day to day management of the site and the sustainability of the project.”
